It is necessary from time to time to carry out essential work on our waters in order to keep them functional. We try to do the work ourselves when we can by organising work parties, unfortunately the response from our members has been poor in the past and if it doesn't improve we may have to increase membership fees to pay for hired labour. This page summarises the recent work which has been carried out on Watford Lodge by essentially six people. The pictures below illustrate the digging out of the bank and building a path, making access to these pegs easier and safer. If you feel that you have the skills and energy to participate in this work then please let us have your name and contact number.
The picture here shows an extensive improvement to the bank with the new path, the path is filled with pine wood and foliage, which will long term provide a more stable and pleasant pathway. The mallards, look carefully about halfway down the path, were enjoying the insulative character of the pathway filling and appeared to be asleep when we approached them.
The next picture shows further development of the path. Two weeks ago it was very difficult to pull a tackle trolley due to the undergrowth and the slope, the day my wife and I walked along it it was a pleasant stroll.
A closer look at the path/bridge over the spring, ensuring safer and drier passage, particularly in wet weather.
