This is a small reservoir,it can be accessed by foot via Greenshall Lane which runs off the right hand side of the A6, when heading for Buxton and just past the Chinese restaurant, the Oriental Bamboo (formerly the Little Chef and Yan Kam San,). There is no access by vehicle from the A6.
There is a footpath on the right hand side of the lane, which is used with the tacit agreement of the Guides Association, this is a 200 to 300 metre climb.
There is an alternative entrance from Buxton Old Road in Disley, when heading for Whaley Bridge, the entrance is via Wards Lane on the left hand side of the road, virtually opposite Mudhurst Road which is also signposted to Kettleshulme and Macclesfield. Wards Lane is identified as unsuitable for cars after 400 yards, fortunately this refers to the road after Seven Springs reservoir and is the part of the road leading down to the to the A6 described earlier. The surface is not too good and care should be taken
Please do not use Corks Lane which leads down to the Guide Association car park, parking here can cause a problem particularly in the Summer months when a thousand guides may be on the site.
One of the locals has assured me that parking after the last house on Wards Lane should cause no problem as the through road is unsuitable for cars. The route via Wards Lane takes you close to the water and provides parking for two cars and no more. The site contains four sound pegs with concrete piers, care should be taken walking round the site although about three quarters of the periphery is easily negotiable by a clear footpath.Speaking with one of the locals, he informed me that ten years ago Disley Dam was drained and the fish were placed in Seven Springs, apparently not all of them were removed and some of these fish have grown very large indeed. Myth, legend or just hearsay, well now you know the way, try it.
Strictly no parking anywhere on GREENSHALL LANE
This water contains: Roach,Perch,Carp and Bream.
