Moorwood Reservoir

[Moorwood reservoir image]

Situated at the top of Redmoor Lane, which is after the bend to the right following the New Mills junction heading in the Buxton direction on the A6 and a little after the infants school. Entrance is to the right off the A6. Vehicles are allowed on the lane but care should be taken as the surface is raised in the middle more like a cart track than a road. Proceed into the farm yard, through two gates, the second gate is electronically controlled by buttons on the wall of the building on either side of the gate. The gate must be opened and closed electronically. Proceed along the road about 100 metres, access to the reservoir is up the bank. The site is open with little or no cover. Parking only in dry weather for approximately six cars on the grass at the base of the bank.If the weather is wet then parking is at the Swan which means a walk of approximately 1 mile. There has been problems on this site due to careless anglers who set the bank of the reservoir alight in a dry period in 2006. A consequence of this event was that the site was nearly lost and the committe were involved in negotiation with the riparian owners assuring them of no further problems as to the behaviour of our members. Tony Pealfield has since been appointed as bailiff to this water and you could well be asked to produce your card by him as well as the owners.

Juniors are not allowed on this water unless accompanied by a senior member
