This is a natural limestone spring and lined with boulder clay, originally there were about 20 in the area, this is believed to be the only one left. This water is full of tench mainly on the small side but if you have never caught a tench, you are liable to catch one here. This water is heavily weeded in the summer, even in the winter there is heavy residual weed on the bottom which is not easily seen without polaroids. It is recommended that when you visit this site you should be prepared for dredging your swim;the head of a garden rake attached to a nylon rope I have found to be effective. The site is located in the heart of Monyash. Take A515 heading out of Buxton towards Ashbourne
Warning! strict speed restrictions operate on this stretch of road
and turn left at sign on to the B5055, turn right at crossroads in Monyash. Park carefully on the road at the side of the water but park sensibly as there is quite a lot of through traffic.Despite its distance from New Mills and Whaley Bridge this site probably offers the best faciliies of all our sites. There is an excellent cafe at the back of the village green offering toilet facilities, always a mute point when fishing,a welcome to muddy boots,a full english breakfast from early morning and a wide range of enticing and sustaining food. There is also the prospect of a top up for your empty flask of coffee and tea and barely 100 metres away.It is also fully licensed with guest beers and wine.Adjacent to the cafe is the fully licensed Bull's Head pub.On Sunday 18 February 2007,the pool was virtually clear of weed except for a couple of fringes and looking particularly enticing. However actual fishing shows this not to be the case and there is a lot of weed beneath the surface making fishing very difficult. A pair of polaroids and a rake from your peg is necessary to ensure that you will be able to fish successfully.
This water contains Tench, Roach, Rudd and some Carp.
