These are newly acquired waters situated in the Hurdsfield area of Macclesfield.
Approach from Whaley Bridge
Approaching these waters from Chapel en le Frith and Whaley Bridge on the B5470 you pass through Rainow and as you drop into Macclesfield approximately 200 yards after crossing the Macclesfield canal turn left into Higher Fence Road. After about half a mile along this road you will see a metal gate which is usually open but closed and locked when I last visited this site on February 6th 2008. Just before this gate on the right is the entrance to a farm and on the immediate right is a parking site which will hold four cars now the old Volvo truck has been removed. If this site is full then park in the wood yard which is on the left hand side of the farm entrance.
Approach from Hazel Grove
Approaching from the Hazel Grove area on the Silk Road (A523)).At the Congleton roundabout turn left onto the B5470 and after about 3/4 mile you will see the Holy Trinity church on the right, take first turning on right after the church again down Higher Fence Road. The directions after this are the same as previous paragraph.
Carp and pike are present in the top pool and all species in the bottom pool.
Access by foot or car
Access to both the top and bottom pools by foot may be too much for older members or anglers who are carrying a lot of gear. In this case you can use your car, going through the gate to the left of the public footpath. This is not advised during a wet period as the ground can be boggy, the owner of this site has given us a lot of leeway, please respect it.
