Working Party Dates

There are four important working party dates coming up in May and they are all on Watford Lodge.In the last month a lot of money has been spent on this water with respect to environmental improvement and stocking in order to bring this water back to the excellence it used to provide.Excessive predation by birds,like the cormorant and goosander in recent years had reduced this water to a pale reflection of what it had been in the past. Loss of weed and general poor cover has assisted in the depletion of stock. There has also been a loss of cover at the side of the water due to duck and geese activity.The work on the days shown above is intended to complement the work already done and it is important that you turn up to lend a hand.In recent years the numbers turning up for working party events have been poor and they must improve if we are to maintain the quality of our waters.The work is intended to build a well defined path on the side of the lodge away from the road. So bring spades, picks, hammers and wheelbarrows.Comments added by website manager on Thursday 15th May," despite the abysmal turnout of helpers, less than 2.0% of membership, there has been substantial improvement to the access and passage around this water as shown in the new pictures of Watford Lodge.Too many members are quite prepared to enjoy angling without putting any effort into the club."
